These pieces were written in attempt to hold onto myself in a world where the black of night and the shine of the noon day’s sun are always both in existence. No matter how long the dark, the light always arises. No matter the length of day, the night always comes. It’s unstoppable, and therefore to be embraced and tried, anticipated or simply accepted. When my patience runs low or I ride the wave too high, I reach for my pen to release the quandaries and center my understanding of God’s laws and human’s reactions to them, for we all touch one another with our lives and choices. I had the pleasure of reading "Spilled Feelings" and I have to say that I did not put it down until the last page was read. I have gone back to read this gem more than once. Ms. Gutierrez is prolific in her use of language and I was "floored" when I had the pleasure to encounter her raw honesty. She can take you, wrap her hands around your throat and express love in other poems. This book is like no other. I love the confessional poets such as Anne Sexton & Sylvia Plath. Ms. Gutierrez ranks right up there with them. The beauty of it all is that she is not only a survivor but a conqueror and you see it within these pages.Ms. Gutierrez is also the first prize winner of the World Healing/ World Peace, Poetry Contest 2012 and well deserved. This is a must read, reserve a spot on your book-shelf for this dynamic young woman's poetry. I did.

the raw emotion of this book is impressive. It is something tat you can relate to, or will disturb you , but the reading of it will make you a better person.
